Things to avoid

Smoking & Alcohol

Stop smoking & drinking two weeks before surgery, as nicotine & alcohol delay healing and recovery.

Blood thinners

Stop aspirin or blood thinners two weeks before and after surgery to avoid bleeding risk.

Medications

Ibuprofen or Diclofenac should only be taken after consulting with your doctor beforehand.

Supplements

Stop fish oil, Vitamin E, green tea, and herbal supplements five days before surgery begins.

Things to do

Compression Garment

Bring the customized garment on surgery day for immediate wear after surgery.

Pack Your Bag

Pack loose clothes, paperwork, glasses, and identification card for the surgery day.

Jewelry and Valuables

Avoid bringing any jewelry or valuables on the day of the surgery.

Nil Per Oral

Do not consume food or water six hours prior to surgery for safety reasons.

Personal Grooming

After Gynecomastia Surgery

Day 1

Elastic Bandaging

Immediately after surgery, you will be shifted with an elastic bandage on the chest.

Compression Garment

Post-surgery, before discharge, your customized compression garment will be worn.

Diet Instructions

Have light food in the evening after surgery and continue with a regular diet the following day as advised.

Day 2

Desk Job

You can resume desk work, but avoid heavy exercise and overexertion until further guidance from your surgeon is provided to you.

Bathing Care

Take a bath while avoiding rubbing the incision area. In Grade 4 cases, use a water-soaked cloth to gently dap surrounding areas for cleaning.

Medication Routine

Apply antibiotic ointment regularly on the stitched area to promote healing. If chest feels heavy, a painkiller can help manage discomfort.

Diet Plan

Continue with your normal diet after surgery. Ensure to follow recommended food choices for better recovery and overall well-being.

Day 3 - Day 4

Normal Activity

Resume regular work or light activities.

Avoid Driving

Do not drive to prevent strain and ensure safe recovery.

No Exercise

Avoid heavy exercise to support proper healing.

No Exertion

Refrain from any strenuous exertion during recovery.

Day 4 - Day 7

Stop Antibiotics

Discontinue antibiotics as directed by the surgeon after recovery.

No Painkillers

Painkillers are not required as discomfort should subside by now.

Wear Garment

Continue wearing the compression garment full-time as instructed.

Light Activity

Resume walking and light exercises while avoiding heavy workouts.

Day 7 - Day 14

Normal Activities

Fully return to your daily routines without restrictions or limitations.

Lymphatic Massage

Continue performing chest lymphatic massage as instructed for healing.

No Pain

Generally, pain should not be present, consult your surgeon if necessary.

Mild Swelling

Slight swelling may persist, but it will gradually reduce over time.

Day 14 - Day 21

Normal Activities

Resume your usual activities fully without any further limitations.

Light Exercise

You can begin exercising, but avoid any intense or heavy workouts.

Alcohol Intake

A small amount of alcohol can be consumed if you feel it's necessary.

Avoid Smoking

It is still important to refrain from smoking to support recovery.

At the end of one month

Swelling Reduction

The swelling has decreased by nearly ninety percent post-surgery.

Start Exercise

You can now begin exercising regularly to regain full physical strength.

Wear Garment

Continue wearing the compression garment for 18 hours daily for four weeks.

After Gynecomastia Surgery

Day 1

  • Elastic Bandaging– Immediately after surgery you will be shifted with elastic bandage on chest.

  • In Grade 4 surgery where free nipple areola grafting has been done, avoid any kind of water on dressed area, just dap with water – soaked cloth on surrounding chest
  • Apply antibiotic ointment on stitched area
  • Resume normal diet
  • Chest might feel bit heavy, can take a painkiller

Day 3

  • Can resume normal job/activity
  • Avoid driving
  • Avoid heavy exercise
  • Avoid heavy exertion

Day 4-7

  • Stop antibiotics as prescribed
  • No need of painkillers
  • Stitches if non dissolvable ones can be removed on day 7
  • Keep on wearing compression garment 24*7
  • Start chest lymphatic massage as taught on your visit to us
  • Can resume normal walk, slight exercise not heavy

Day 7-14

  • Resume normal activities completely
  • Continue lymphatic massage
  • Usually no pain is there, you can contact your plastic surgeon if needed
  • Slight swelling will be there.

Day 14-21

  • Resume normal activities completely
  • Continue lymphatic massage
  • Usually no pain is there, you can contact your plastic surgeon if needed
  • Slight swelling will be there

At the end of one month

  • Swelling is reduced by up to 90%
  • Can start exercise
